Grille Teeth Light Kit

The light kit is fabulous fun. If you thought having teeth in your car was amusing, or even intimidating, add a light kit, and it's like adding 'turbo' to the effect! Our light kit is powered by electroluminescent technology - originally developed for military applications, but now adapted for your driving pleasure. We use 'double core' EL, for higher light output. Not the cheap stuff you can get at Target! The raw materials are twice the price, but you guys are worth it!

The neon-like glow is rated for thousands of hours of use, and runs off of your 12 volt electrical system, drawing a measly 50 ma of current. The current draw is so low, that it can be wired to the running lights, so they can be lit up as shown, or when the lights are on (see below), without the need for a separate switch on the dash. Just turn on your lights, and they're on!

Each kit includes two electrical connectors, which tap into your wiring harness without the need for any special tools or additional hardware. Only a pair of pliers is recommended. One customer reported 15 minutes to install teeth and lights for the first time!

Angled side view of the kit on a set of 'Shark Attack' teeth. The effect is dramatic, yet subtle. These look soooo cool!

With the car's lights on, they are still plenty visible, and not the harsh direct light of an incandescent lamp.

In twilight, they come alive!

The photos above, with the exception of the big one at the top, were not manipulated to accentuate the lights, and portray a production model. The light kit is an add-on to any model of teeth you might want to use, or might currently own. The additional parts are barely noticeable by day, but you sure can tell at night!

The lights are 'sandwiched' between the teeth and the bumper cover. Various lighting effects can be obtained by adjusting the spacing between the teeth and the light strip.

This is what the kit looks like 'out of the box'. The red double core EL is apparent. The inverter (small black box) is attached with a connector, for ease of installation.

Installation is only a bit more difficult than installing the teeth. 2 wires need to be spliced into your cars wiring harness with included 3M splices (they require only pliers to install, no soldering, cutting or stripping), and a small transformer mounted with some double-sided foam tape. You'll need to de-mount and re-mount your teeth, but that's only 6 plastic bolts! One customer has reported a first-time installation of both teeth and lights in 15 minutes! We're impressed, but we find that most folks take 1/2 hour to install either teeth or lights.

Currently, we have up to 6 different colors available (color selection will vary, the current selection can be seen after you click the 'order' button). The colors may also vary a little from what you see below, as there are slight variations from lot to lot. Other colors are also sometimes available, except for purple, which just doesn't look right. With 8 different models of teeth, and 5 different colors of lights, there are 40 possible combinations, making it even more likely that your car will be unique.

Neon pinstriping for Mazda Miata
Mazda Miata has a convenient little groove running all around the front and back bumpers. We place a red electroluminescent cable in the rear groove, to accentuate the car's running lights. You get a nifty accent pinstripe by day, and increased nightime presence, which never hurts on a small car. Adding flash, AND increasing safety; what a deal!

Connection is made directly to the running light wiring, which means there's no additional switch to wire up, and the pinstripe comes on whenever your lights are on. We cannot guarantee if this is legal in every jurisdiction, but we only offer it in a color which matches the red running lights, to be as legit as possible.

Mounting hardware is all stainless steel, including a spring system to keep the EL mounted without the need for glues or anything which will permanently alter or even attach to your paint job. As with most AutoExpressions products, most folks will mount these in about a half an hour.

Style, and increased safety, all in one package!

These are currently available only for the 'first generation' body style, 1990-1997.

Ultra-bright grille light kit

We're taking cold cathode lighting (the bright neon used for under-car lighting) and applying it to the grille-mounted teeth for a very different effect than our standard light kit!

The result is dazzling, and really displays grille-mounted teeth to the max! Several colors will be available, we're still working on the details.

This product is still in development, but we're taking names for the first release. Please send an email to info@auto-expressions.com, ask to be on the 'ultra-bright' list.
